ISO 45001 – will it ever come?

ISO 45001 – the Occupational Health and Safety standard that is due to replace OHSAS 18001, has been further delayed. Originally due to be published this year, it is now not expected until November 2017.

A ballot of 65 participating countries on the most recent draft in May did not reach the required percentage approval to allow the standard to go forward.

If you want to proceed with an OHSAS system we would advise you not to wait for this standard and to go with OHSAS 18001 – indications are that conversion will not be difficult once ISO 45001 is published.
